Sangamon County State’s Attorney John Milhiser made an announcement on Tuesday that 23 members of two rival Springfield gangs, SQAD ( Shoot Quick and Avoid Death) and BP ( Boss Playas) have been charged in state RICO indictments for Gang Violence including the murder of a nine-year-old.
All 23 members are charged with one count of RICO conspiracy. Fifteen members will face additional charges.
These indictments are a result of an ongoing investigation by the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Springfield Police Department, and the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office into violent criminal behavior occurring in Springfield and Sangamon County.
