The 7th Annual Channel1450 Fill the Trailer Food Drive has officially concluded, with local high school football teams stepping up once again to help fight food insecurity throughout Central Illinois.
From October 5 through October 19, community members were encouraged to donate non-perishable food items as participating schools competed to see who could collect the most donations for the Central Illinois Foodbank. The drive culminated with a special drop-off day on October 19 at the Central Illinois Foodbank, where the collected food was delivered and weighed.
Now in its seventh year, the Fill the Trailer Food Drive is organized by Channel1450.com and made possible through the support of presenting sponsor INB. This annual tradition combines community service with school pride, giving student-athletes an opportunity to make a difference beyond the football field.
This year’s effort resulted in more than 5,700 pounds of food donated, bringing the total amount collected since 2020 to more than 38,000 pounds for the Central Illinois Foodbank.
Channel1450 extends its gratitude to the participating schools, the Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones and New Berlin Pretzels, for their dedication and commitment to helping local families. We are also thankful to INB for its continued partnership and support of this community-focused initiative.
“The Fill the Trailer Food Drive is one of the things I’m most proud of doing at Channel1450. Thank you to SHG and New Berlin for participating and to our sponsor INB for supporting what we’re doing!”
