Meet Our Latest Friend
The Morning Routine with Rocki and Lacey recently welcomed the inspiring Josh Sabo from Heartland HOUSED to discuss the organization’s mission and the vital work being done to address homelessness in Springfield and Sangamon County. We caught up on how busy life has been and the change in seasons, and how that affects the work he does in Heartland Housed.
Josh shared his journey, explaining how efforts to create a coordinated center of care led him to become involved with Heartland HOUSED and the Heartland Continuum of Care in 2019. As the backbone organization of the Continuum of Care, Heartland HOUSED works to develop strategic solutions, strengthen community partnerships, and support collaborative efforts aimed at functionally ending homelessness in our area.
We also talked about Heartland HOUSED’s street outreach team, which works directly with individuals experiencing homelessness, building relationships and connecting them with available resources and services. Josh highlighted additional support available through the organization’s new app and the Heartland Housing Helpline at 217-803-5235, available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
