Fall Out Boy committed to supporting the Black Lives Matter movement on Monday (June 8th) by pledging a $100,000 donation. The money will come out of the Fall Out Boy Fund, which the band launched in 2017 to give back to their Chicago hometown.

The new sum is going to National Bail Out and Black Visions Collective, two nationally acclaimed, black-led organizations supporting the empowerment of all black people.

Fall Out Boy said in a statement, “When you discover rot deep within your house you don't just paint over it. You dismantle it and rebuild a better house. We support the black community in the struggle against racial inequality, injustice, and police brutality by committing $100,000 from the Fall Out Boy Fund this summer . . . We realize this is a marathon not a sprint and plan to continue and expand our support.”

Fall Out Boy released a new song called “Dear Future (Hands Up)” and a greatest hits collection late last year in advance of its planned tour this summer with Green Day and Weezer. But the Hella Mega tour, as it was called, was postponed to next year by COVID-19.
