Local advocates and community members gathered at Jacksonville Town Square this past Tuesday to urge local Congresswoman Mary Miller to commit to protecting
essential services for Illinois families.

The rally, organized by groups including Indivisible Jacksonville, Citizen Action/Illinois, and the Illinois Alliance for Retired Americans, called on Rep. Miller to oppose proposed cuts to Medicaid,
SNAP and other vital programs.

The proposed Congressional Republican budget could impact over 190,000 residents in Illinois’ 15th Congressional District – putting their access to healthcare and nutrition services at risk.

According to the organizers, the cuts would affect 190,635 individuals enrolled in Medicaid, including 83,393 children and 19,000 seniors; additionally, 113,000 residents
who rely on SNAP for food assistance could face challenges.
