Springfield Memorial Hospital is set to host a flag-raising ceremony on Wednesday, April 23, to highlight the significance of organ and tissue donation.
The event will take place at noon at the flagpole near the hospital’s main entrance.
According to the Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor Network, which operates in Illinois and northwest Indiana, nearly 5,000 Illinois residents are
currently awaiting organ transplants.
The ceremony will include remarks from officials representing Memorial Health, Saving Sight, and Gift of Hope.
The public is encouraged to attend, and staff will be available in the hospital lobby to assist with new donor registrations.
