The Illinois State Police is ramping up its efforts to combat vehicle theft, hijacking, and related violent crimes, thanks to significant grant funding from the Illinois Secretary of State, and the Illinois Vehicle Hijacking and Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention and Insurance Verification Council.
The ISP was awarded a $10 million grant for the first fiscal year, with an additional $677,000 grant announced in June 2024.
These funds are being utilized to enhance the ISP’s missions, which have shown promising results from January through March 2025.
