Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon confirmed on Thursday the recent recovery of human skeletal remains.

On April 18, 2025, the remains were located in a wooded section in the 1700 block of North Milton Ave in Grandview.

The Coroner’s Office responded to the area at the request of the Grandview Police Department.

The Coroner – along with Crime Scene Investigators with the Springfield Police Department – recovered the remains and prepared them for further examination and identification.

On April 19, the remains in question were examined by a Forensic Pathologist.

The preliminary findings from that procedure are pending additional studies.

On this past Tuesday, April 22, the remains were examined by an Anthropologist; the results from that examination are still pending.

The identification process of the deceased is set to be done scientifically, and the next of kin will be notified when the results of those tests are available.

The death is under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Springfield Police Department.
