North Grand Ave in Springfield between 7th and 9th streets set to be closed across next five weeks for Springfield Rail Improvement Project

North Grand Avenue in Springfield is closed between 7th and 9th streets for about five weeks beginning today to move a large water main for the Springfield Rail Improvement Project.

The 4.8-million-dollar project is part of the city’s match for the rail relocation and is the largest part of the city’s 10.2-million-dollar water infrastructure upgrades.

Three more phases of work for the North Grand Avenue underpass are planned to be completed by this fall.
