Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said during a visit to Springfield Wednesday morning that the sanctuary policies in Illinois endanger residents.
Noem spoke outside the Governor’s Mansion, calling on Governor JB Pritzker to end the policies she claims have resulted in additional crimes committed by people in the country illegally:
Noem said the death of Springfield resident Emma Shafer is an example of a crime committed by someone illegally in the U.S.:
A statement from Pritzker called Noem’s visit a publicity stunt, and said the Trump administration is violating the U.S. Constitution by denying due process to law-abiding residents and that Illinois follows the law.
