The City of Springfield’s Public Works Department announced on Wednesday that it would be temporarily closing the westbound lanes of South Grand Avenue between Spring Street and Whittier Avenue beginning at 7:00 am on Thursday, May 22, to perform necessary tree removal.
Detour signage will be in place to guide motorists around the closure. Weather permitting, the westbound lanes are anticipated to reopen by the end of the day on Thursday.
Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes and use caution when traveling in the area.
