The unemployment rate and the number of nonfarm payrolls remained steady during May according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
The jobless rate in May was 4.8 percent, unchanged from April, and the number of nonfarm payrolls remained at more than 6.1 million, up about 21 thousand from a year ago.
