A former emergency medical services worker has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the 2022 death of Earl Moore Jr. in Springfield.
Peter Cadigan entered the partially-negotiated plea on Friday morning in Sangamon County court.
Cadigan and another EMS worker, Peggy Jill Finley, were charged with first-degree murder.
Authorities said Moore suffocated when he was strapped face-down on a gurney as he was loaded into an ambulance.
Cadigan was scheduled to go on trial on May 11.
He faces two to five years in prison and is eligible for probation.
Sentencing is June 23rd. Finley’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 22nd.
