Sangamon Mass Transit District is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Route 66 with a specially-decorated bus.
Managing Director Steve Schoeffel said the bus named “Buddy” has a vintage look designed by SMTD’s advertising contractor, Houck Transit Advertising.
Schoeffel said the bus will play Route 66-themed tunes when it makes special appearances, similar to SMTD’s holiday bus, “Holly.”
“Buddy” will also be seen on regular bus routes this year.
