After resigning from his seat due to investigations into alleged misconduct former State Representative Harry Benton, D-Plainfield has withdrawn his name from the November ballot.
The Will and Kendall County Democrats have put out an open call for residents of the 97th district to apply to replace Benton, both for the remainder of his term and on the ballot.
A candidate could be appointed by the chairs anytime before August 21st, the day ballots are finalized.
