A bat found on the campus of the University of Illinois has tested positive for rabies.
The bat was found near St. John’s Catholic Newman Center on September 30th. The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District confirmed the bat tested positive on October 1st.
CUPHD stated that while the risk of rabies to the public is low, and no human exposures have been identified so far anyone who had contact with the bat should call CUPHD for further consultation.
