Sangamon County voters will soon receive letters from a technology company about a data security incident.
Sangamon County Clerk Don Gray said the incident was publicly reported in 2024 by Platinum Technology, a third-party vendor that maintained voter registration for Sangamon and 14 other Illinois counties.
Gray said reviews of logs and security controls confirmed the county’s election system was not breached and that the county’s systems were not accessed or compromised.
Gray said the company is sending the letters as required by the Illinois Attorney General’s office.
