Governor JB Pritzker met Thursday with Chicago Bears minority owner Pat Ryan, National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell and some state lawmakers in what the governor’s office called “a productive meeting focused on keeping the Bears in Illinois and protecting taxpayers.”
Bears President Kevin Warren said on August 13 that the team’s sole focus was to build a new stadium in northwest Indiana. Goodell said nearly two weeks later that he met with Illinois lawmakers.
The Bears purchased a site in Arlington Heights in 2021. The NFL also released a statement after Thursday’s meeting that “timely action is essential as the Bears work to find a long-term stadium solution for the club and their fans.”
